How to start a team
1 |
Recruit 2 to 6 interested team members ages 6 to 10. A coach is allowed to coach multiple teams. Each team must have at least 1 adult coach. If you have a large group of students you're looking at registering all at once, consider registering multiple teams and benefit from exclusive discounts.

Once you have a team - you do not need all team member names yet, register your team. Remember that once you register you would still have 1 or 2 months left to replace any team members who might change their mind. If you're a new team and this is your first season, you might need to purchase the WeDo 2.0 kit.

Once your team is registered, you have a wealth of information at your fingertips on our resources page to help you with everything from fundraising to just raising the level of fun on your team.
We give you a head start by announcing the theme months ahead of time. Even though you will not know the exact details of the Challenge, you can begin researching the theme with your team as soon as it is announced. Once the Challenge is released (August), registered teams will have access to all the season-specific documents. Most teams spend about 12 weeks preparing their projects. Understand that your team’s Show Me poster and LEGO model must be ready before you attend an event. |
There are costs involved with supporting a FIRST LEGO League Junior team and they can vary between one team and another, depending on the level of participation a team chooses. Below are the two main costs associated with a team depending on their seniority in NERD.
VETERAN TEAM
Here are some basic cost parameters for returning FLL Junior teams in Lebanon:
- There are never any “per student” fees; all costs for individual team members are assumed by the team as a group.
- Fees for the annual team registration is $250 USD (2019/20 season), which includes the season Inspire Set. A second team registration, or more, automatically qualifies for a 40% discount per team.
- Investing in team items such as t-shirts, props, giveaway items is very common, make sure you set a budget for that if you're looking to do it and ask the team to design those. Most teams choose to produce them on their own instead of relying on professionals.
