OUR FIRST SEASON

In 2010, NERD was still known as FIRST LEGO League Lebanon. The season was launched with the support of Motorola Foundation, an initiative that enabled 10 schools to explore the world of educational robotics for the first time and 6 other schools to participate on their own expense.

The 2010/11 FLL Lebanon Champion was "Pulse", whom later on represented Lebanon for the first time on the international stage at the Open European Championship in Delft, Germany.

GROWING & ACHIEVING

The second season saw the inclusion of 10 new teams to the event, a total of 26 teams and 250 students participated in FLL 2012.

This year held a great achievement for Education and Technology Center as the Open Arab Robotics Championship was co-hosted by Education and Technology Center and the Lebanese American University in Byblos.

LAU HOSTS FLL13

Due to the great success of the OARC5, the Lebanese American University hosted the 2012/13 FLL Lebanon season at the Beirut campus.

The event joined more than 350 students in its third season and marked the first year of Lebanon's participation at the FIRST World Festival through the national champion from Al Iman High School in Tripoli Dawn of Innovation III.

JOINING FORCES WITH AUB

As part of a three year term collaboration, the American University in Beirut hosts the 37 participating teams in the fourth national tournament.

Fast & Curious won the national championship title and represented Lebanon at the FIRST World Festival where they were crowned as world champion runner-ups.

ESTABLISHING NERD

Joining 42 teams, the tournament adds two competitions: SUMO and Line Tracking into its format and becomes commonly known as the National Education Robotics Day.

On the international level "Fast & Curious" becomes the first Lebanese team crowned as World Champion after representing Lebanon on the international stage.

DOUBLING IN SIZE

For the last season at the American University in Beirut, NERD doubles in size and competitions to 84 teams and adds FIRST LEGO League Junior and FIRST Tech Challenge into its format.

"RoboBuilders" and "Tic Tac Toe" held the privilege of representing Lebanon at the World Championship in FIRST LEGO League, with Tic Tac Toe returning as finalists.

BAT Team won the Gracious Professionalism award in FLL Junior international, while Fast & Curious FTC and Jalapeños became the first 2 teams to represent Lebanon at the international FTC stage.

BREAKING 100

For the first time in 7 years, NERD Lebanon crosses the 100 teams mark and joins 112 teams from more than 60 schools.

On the international level Lebanon was represented by 14 teams at the World Festival, Open European Championship and International Open Championship, the widest participation we ever had on the international level.

NERD18... MARCH 18, 2018

Hosted at Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand with the support of the Ministry of Telecommunication and touch, NERD18 saw more than 1300 students enjoy one of our best seasons so far.

RoboBuilders finalized their trilogy by becoming a three time national FIRST LEGO League Champion, while FTC101 became the first Lebanese FIRST Tech Challenge team to win an award on the international stage.

2019 OUR BIGGEST STEP-UP

For 2019, our event will be having its biggest development, yet. Co-hosted by the Lebanese American University in Byblos, NERD will organize three consecutive events at the campus: NERD Open Championship, #NERD19, and the first international robotics event in Lebanon, the FIRST LEGO League Open International Lebanon, which will join more than 70 teams from around the world.
